Taproot Scholarship is designed to
WEAVE THE TAPESTRY OF OUR FARM COMMUNITY. It is rooted in the premise that we are all resourceful and full of resources. TAP allows families to explore and use their untapped resources to make a difference in our farm camp program. It is our intention that through collaboration we can create a sustainable community.
All families are asked to contribute financially to their child(ren) farm camp experience at the highest level possible. In the case that our tiered pricing scale is financially prohibitive for your child(ren) to attend, the family is asked to consider the amount they can financially pay, any payment plan, and the way(s) in which their family can contribute to the maintenance, operation, or growth of the farm. Through conversation, a mutual agreement of financial contribution and volunteer hours is determined. The ways in which families can help are many!
Although we strive to make every request for Taproot Scholarship possible, we are limited with our funds, and may not be able to accommodate every request particularly if multiple requests are made for a single session. Scholarships are determined based upon needs of the camp program and at the discretion of administrators. HCFC does not discriminate based upon race/ethnicity, color, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation.
Many of us are experiencing unusually tight budgets this year and the farm is no different. However, it is important for us to be inclusive and make Farm Camp affordable to as many of families as possible. We rely upon community contributions to help make a portion of our Taproot scholarship program possible particularly in the case that the parent's schedule doesn't permit much extra time to help on the farm. Please contact us if you are interested in contributing to our Taproot Scholarship Fund. We are not non-profit so we cannot provide you with a tax deductible receipt. However, contributing to our Taproot Scholarship Fund, helps a child attend farm camp.
Volunteering can be a family affair. Depending upon the task, campers & younger siblings can accompany parents/grandparents to help fulfill volunteer hours. Please check to see if task would be appropriate for children before arriving at the farm for volunteer hours.
