Seasonal Farm-Based Programs

Our farm serves as a living classroom where seasonal programs invite visitors to explore gardens, greenhouses, forests, creek, and the barnyard through hands-on Agricultural Arts experiences shaped by the rhythms of nature.

Grounded in curiosity and stewardship, our programs deepen understanding of agriculture and ecology while nurturing a meaningful connection to the land.

Oaks and Acorns Program is designed for children ages 2-5 years old that are accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Circle time, movement, nature-based AgVentures, and animal care will inspire our group play and morning tasks. Surrounded by the beauty of farm, forest and fields, we will follow the rhythm of the seasons and encourage exploration through the freedom of imaginative play. Younger and older siblings are welcome to participate, but activities are geared toward toddler through preschool aged children. Please inquire about space for older siblings.

Miss Krysten has over 20 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. She is the director at Under the Willow School where she has also been a Kindergarten Assistant Teacher since 2019.  She has two wonderful children, loves being outside and is currently working toward a Master's Degree in Non-Fiction Creative Writing.  Krysten is excited to return to HCFC.  She was the Little Seeds Lead Teacher in 2019 and is a close friend of the farm!

Homeschool Enrichment Program

    Importance of Unstructured Play

In addition to farm- and nature-based activities, unstructured time is a vital part of our Farm Camp Day and an important component of healthy child development. This time supports the development of autonomy—the ability for children to make independent, age-appropriate choices, take initiative, and act with growing self-direction while feeling safe and supported. Research and experience show that self-directed play strengthens cognitive growth, emotional regulation, creativity, and social skills. During unstructured time, children learn to make decisions, solve problems, collaborate with peers, take responsibility for their actions, and build confidence in their abilities.

    Lettuce Play Outside

Our daily rhythm intentionally includes ample opportunities for free play, and our farm setting offers a safe, enriching environment where children can explore, imagine, and grow at their own pace.
